Eligibility for the Retiree Visa

The Retirement Visa does not discriminate based on age — it focuses on guaranteed income. You need to prove a lifetime pension of at least $1,000/month. The minimum required age is 25 years. This visa does not grant the right to a work permit, but owning a company is not prohibited.

Minimum income: $1,000/month. If the pension is between $750–$1,000, it can be supplemented by real estate investment of at least $100,000.

Dependents: An additional $250/month is required per dependent. Dependent children must be single and under 18, or under 25 if in university.

Required Documents

  • Pension certificate from a government or private entity, authenticated.
  • Public property registration certificate if you own property in Panama.
  • Criminal background certificate from your country of origin, authenticated by the Panamanian Consulate.
  • Authenticated marriage and/or birth certificates for spouses and children.

Application Procedure

  • Registration with the National Migration Service.
  • Submission of all required documents, translated into Spanish if necessary.
  • Payment of migration fees and repatriation deposit.

Review and approval: The review can take several months. Once approved, a temporary residence card will be issued.

50% discounts: Leisure activities (cinemas, concerts, sports events), hotels on weekdays (Monday–Thursday).
